My recent stay at a charming traditional ryokan was a good experience that brought together the essence of Japanese hospitality with a unique twist. Although the building’s 70s aesthetic felt a bit out of place, the warmth of the family-run atmosphere made up for it. I enjoyed one of the best hot baths I’ve had in Japan, coupled with a dinner that featured a delicious beef shabu shabu spread — I couldn't resist finishing every last bite. The owner was a quiet yet attentive host, providing helpful information through a digital translator. I appreciated the small touches, like my name displayed in the window upon arrival, which made me feel welcomed. With tranquil mountain views and easy access to a picturesque water shrine, this location perfectly balances serenity with comfort, making it worth a visit for anyone seeking a slice of Japan’s rich culture.
